City recognizes People’s Choice award winners

The City of Fort St. John council handed out four North Peace People’s Choice Awards during the June 23rd council meeting.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Four individuals and organizations with the City of Fort St. John celebrated winning awards which recognize excellence in the region. 

During the June 23rd City of Fort St. John council meeting, Mayor Lilia Hansen presented four North Peace People’s Choice Awards to members and organizations within the community. 

The awards, organized by Moose Media and sponsored by RE/MAX Action Realty, are an annual celebration for individuals, businesses and organizations in Fort St. John, Taylor, Charlie Lake, Hudson’s Hope and Peace River Regional District Areas B and C.

Moose Media operates Moose FM and Energeticcity.ca in the City of Fort St. John.

Awards are based on votes, and are given to the recipients of the most votes from the community. 

At City Hall, Adam Horst won the People’s Choice Award for best firefighter, with fire chief Robert Norton receiving the award for him, and Logan Trask was given the best RCMP officer award.

The best community event award went to the High on Ice Winter Festival, and the best swimming pool award was received by the North Peace Leisure Pool. 

“[The awards] were a great success,” Greg Armstrong, reader engagement lead with Energeticcity.ca said. 

Armstrong explained this was the second year Moose Media has run the awards and pointed to an increase in votes compared to 2024.

“The awards are a great way to showcase all the local businesses, organizations and people in the region.”
