Local non-profit partners with Subway for ‘Never Miss Lunch’ campaign
The Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society will have fundraising tables at Subway branches as part of the Never Miss Lunch campaign.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — One of Fort St. John’s non-profits is partnering with Subway for its Never Miss Lunch campaign.
The Subway initiative, in partnership with Food Banks Canada’s After the Bell program, aims to provide nutritious food to kids in need during the summer break.
As part of the campaign, the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society (FSJWRS) said it will set up fundraising tables at Subway locations in Fort St. John from June 16th to June 20th.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our local Subway for supporting us and giving us this space during their busiest hours,” said Amanda Trotter, FSJWRS executive director.
The tables will raise awareness and accept donations for the society’s Outreach Store, which provide free food and essentials to vulnerable people.
“Our Outreach Store received over 16,000 visits last year and the demand continues to grow,” said Trotter.
FSJWRS will put on a trivia spin-the-wheel game for a $2 donation.

Tony Som, owner of the local Subway locations, said the business is proud to help FSJWRS in its “vital programs.”
“We believe in their mission and are happy to be a part of it,” said Som.
Som said this was not the first partnership with society.
“In the past, we’ve helped fill buckets of food for their Outreach Store. This year, we wanted to not only donate food, but also do something different, and we’re excited to help create a fun and engaging way for people to give back,” said Som.
Trotter said these kinds of partnerships are helpful in raising more food and resources.
“Partnerships like this truly make a difference in our ability to serve the community,” said Trotter.
FSJWRS is a registered Canadian charity, serving the Fort St. John community for over 40 years.
“Our mission is to empower low-income individuals and families by addressing critical needs, including support for those experiencing domestic abuse, legal system navigation, food security and transitional housing,” said FSJWRS.
