BC Hydro outage hits more than 3,000 Dawson Creek customers

Thousands of BC Hydro customers in Dawson Creek are without power after surprise outages in the city.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Thousands of BC Hydro customers in Dawson Creek are without power after surprise outages in the city.

The utility’s website lists two current active outages on the southern end of the city – one affecting 1,607 customers that reportedly began at 2:22 p.m. on June 13th, another affecting 1,829 customers that reportedly started at 2:13 p.m. on June 13th.

The second outage is also affecting some Pouce Coupe residents.

The cause of both outages is listed as an ‘equipment failure.’ 

Crews have reportedly been assigned to both outages and are working to restore power. The utility’s latest update said power was expected to be restored around 5:00 p.m. on June 13th.
