essential grant writing resources to our non-profit community,” said Leonard Hiebert, chair of the PRRD.

The district says the courses are designed to equip local groups with the skills and knowledge needed to secure vital funding successfully.

‘Introduction to grant writing’ courses will run in June and include the following lessons: how grants work, strategies for searching for grants, how to ensure a project is ‘grant-ready’ and how to access the PRRD’s grant writing services.

The next session will be on June 4th at 6:30 p.m.

Each course is one hour and 30 minutes long.

A successful grant proposal workshop will also be offered by the PRRD on June 5th at 9 a.m.

The three-hour course, which requires prerequisites, is designed for non-profits ready to learn more thorough information on the grant process.

According to the PRRD, the course will teach a high-level overview of how grants work, an understanding of proposal guidelines and how to demonstrate the need for funding.

“These sessions are a fantastic opportunity for organizations to enhance their capacity, secure crucial funding and serve the residents of the Peace River Regional District,” said Hiebert.

In addition to the sessions, the PRRD said it has hosted 17 information sessions and workshops with Clear Course and created a series of grant-writing resources on its website.

Clear Course has provided grant-writing services for the Grant Writer Services Program since 2021.

“As of September 2024, Clear Course has connected with 95 community groups in the PRRD, supported 126 groups with their grant applications and helped these groups secure more than $3 million in funding,” said the PRRD.

The PRRD said its Grant Writer Services Program has been a cornerstone of support for non-profits since 2019.

More information about the online sessions can be found on the PRRD’s website
