ESS for Kiskatinaw River wildfire evacuees renewing throughout weekend

Evacuees displaced by the Kiskatinaw River wildfire are being advised that the City of Dawson Creek is renewing its Emergency Support Services (ESS) this weekend.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Evacuees displaced by the Kiskatinaw River wildfire are being advised that the City of Dawson Creek is renewing its Emergency Support Services (ESS) this weekend.

The 4,554-hectare wildfire, discovered May 28th, led to an evacuation order being issued by the Peace River Regional District (PRRD). Evacuees are now in Dawson Creek.

The city issued a press release on Saturday, May 31st, saying evacuees’ hotel renewals were being handled on the 31st. They’re being told to visit their hotel’s front counters by 6 p.m. for more information.

Meanwhile, city staff members say food and supply referrals will be handled by ESS workers in person at Sudetan Hall in Dawson Creek on Sunday, June 1st.

The latest updates for evacuees taking advantage of ESS can be found on the city’s website. The PRRD website will have the latest information regarding the evacuation alert.
