Nearly $1m in sewer contracts approved in Peace region
The Peace River Regional District has approved contracts for nearly $1 million in sewer construction and repairs contracts at Charlie Lake and North Peace Regional Airport.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Almost $1 million in sewer contracts has been awarded by the regional district for two projects in the Peace River region.Â
During the May 23rd regional meeting of the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) board of directors, two sewer work contracts were approved and awarded to Big League Utilities Ltd. at a cost of almost $1 million.
The first contract, which details sewer pipe repairs and replacements at the North Peace Regional Airport Subdivision, will cost approximately $608,000 for spot repairs and pipe replacements.Â
The money for the contract comes from pre-authorized Electoral Area C Peace River Agreement Funds from 2022.Â
A permit application for the construction was submitted in January 2025 to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, and construction can commence once that’s approved. Â
The second contract details a cost of $343,500 for the installation of a sewer redundancy mainline at High-Level Crescent and the Alaska Highway in Charlie Lake. The money for the project will come from the Area C Community Works Gas Tax fund.
The permit for this project was also submitted to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit in January 2025 and, unlike the work in the North Peace Regional Airport Subdivision, will require extensions of existing sewer easements through private property.Â
