(UPDATE) Former Dawson Creek councillor charged with breach of trust

A former Dawson Creek councillor, Shaely Wilbur, has been charged with breach of trust.

Update, May 20th, 9:40 a.m.: A previous version of this story said Wilbur had been charged by the RCMP, when it is the BC Prosecution Service which has the final authority on charge approval. Energeticcity.ca is happy to set the record straight.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A former Dawson Creek councillor has been charged with breach of trust. 

Shaely Wilbur, who ran against current Dawson Creek mayor Darcy Dober in 2022, was charged in relation to an alleged incident on December 1st, 2021.

According to a City of Dawson Creek document, Wilbur was a councillor from 2012 to 2021. She was also president of the North Central Local Government Organization from 2017 to 2018.

She appeared at Dawson Creek Provincial Court on May 13th, and her next appearance has been scheduled for May 27th. 

Energeticcity.ca contacted Wilbur for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
