According to SPDCPA vice-president Kyle MacDonald, last year’s event raised $12,500, of which $5,000 was donated to Crime Stoppers.
“It is just a family fun, friendly event out on the golf course, ” said MacDonald. “[It is for] building awareness of our crime prevention association and the initiatives we do.
“All ages are welcome [to participate]. It’s going to be all encompassing.”
The SPDCPA is a citizen-based umbrella organization for residential security in Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Moberly Lake and Tomslake.

Residents in the organization have participated in volunteer initiatives such as the ICBC Speed Watch program, and citizens on patrol in both Dawson Creek and Chetwynd.
The tournament will be a four-person best ball format, consisting of any mix of adults and youth.
Similar to the event in 2024, each foursome will play their own ball through each hole.
However, unlike most tournaments where the lowest number of shots is a team’s official score, MacDonald says scores will not be tracked.
Registration is set at $600, with the event capped at 36 teams. MacDonald says with just under a week to go, the field has around 23 teams already registered.
The SPDCPA is offering a $50 discount if teams register with at least one youth participant.
In addition, breakfast and dinner are both provided for participants. There will be prizes, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw.
The SPDCPA second annual charity golf event takes place on Saturday, May 24th starting at 9 a.m. at Dawson Creek Golf Course on 2121 Alaska Highway.
