Tumbler Ridge non-profit gets $5K for first aid and chainsaw safety training
The Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association (TRORA) received a $5K from the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC for first aid and chainsaw safety training.

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — A Tumbler Ridge non-profit will receive $5,000 to provide volunteers with first aid and chainsaw safety training.
The Tumbler Ridge Outdoor Recreation Association (TRORA) received the donation from the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC as a recipient of its 2025 Outdoor Recreation Fund of BC.
Louise Pedersen, executive director of the council, said the grant will help the TRORA by assuring everyone is safe when working in remote areas or maintaining trails.

“It’s all about being prepared, looking out for each other, and taking care of the places we love to explore,” said Pedersen.
TRORA was one of 200 organizations which submitted applications for projects that support outdoor recreation.
A total of $254,950 in grants was sent to 32 projects across the province on April 29th.
Each applicant had to go through a comprehensive eligibility process and was later assessed by three separate experienced reviewers.

“TRORA’s application was among the most highly ranked projects and was recommended for funding,” said Pederson.
