North Peace Leisure Pool closed early for ‘major clean-up’ after contamination incident

A contamination incident has caused the North Peace Leisure Pool to close for the day.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Parents are being reminded to take young kids for frequent bathroom breaks when they visit the North Peace Leisure Pool now the pool has had to close early for the day.

According to an announcement on social media from the City of Fort St. John, the pool had to close early on Monday, May 5th for a “major clean-up.”

As a result, swimming lessons scheduled for that day have been moved to the lap pool elsewhere in the building and lane swimming won’t be available until after 7 p.m.

Parents are urged to avoid bringing their kids to the pool after a large meal, make sure young children take bathroom breaks every 20 minutes while swimming, ensure infants and toddlers wear swim diapers, and avoid going to the pool within 48 hours of any illness symptoms.
