(UPDATE) Fifteen-hectare Halfway River wildfire now ‘under control’

BC Wildfire Service crews were fighting an Upper Halfway Road wildfire which started on April 25th.

Updated, April 27th, 9:45 a.m.: As of 8:46 a.m. on April 27th, firefighters have listed the fire as ‘under control.’ This means it is not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter.

Updated, April 26th, 4:10 p.m.: The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has now listed this wildfire as ‘being held.’ This is a wildfire that is projected, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.

HALFWAY RIVER, B.C. — Firefighters are tackling a 15-hectare blaze near the Halfway River this evening.

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has designated the fire on Upper Halfway Road as “out of control” as of 6:14 p.m. on April 25th. 

This means it is “spreading or it is anticipated to spread beyond the current perimeter, or control line.”

BCWS confirmed there are nine firefighters fighting the fire, being supported by a helicopter.
