Zoning bylaw amendment to allow more duplexes proposed by City of Fort St. John
Fort St. John is hosting a meeting about a proposed residential zoning bylaw amendment at City Hall April 14th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A public meeting is being held in Fort St. John next week about a proposed amendment to one of the city’s zoning bylaws which would reduce front yard space minimums and allow more duplexes to be built.
The proposed amendment would affect a block of manufactured homes south of Northern Lights Drive and east of 76A Street, as well as a small number near the corner of 101st Avenue and 96th Street.
According to a public notice, the city wants to amend the “minimum front yard space” and “maximum number of principal dwellings per parcel” regulations.

By altering the maximum number of principal dwellings, the amended bylaw would allow for duplexes to be built in addition to single detached dwellings.
It would also reduce the minimum front yard space required on these properties from 50 per cent, down to 40 per cent for single detached dwellings and 30 per cent for duplexes.
Anyone interested in sharing their thoughts on the proposed amendment can attend a meeting at City Hall on Monday, April 14th, at 3:00 p.m. The meeting is free to attend and doesn’t require pre-registration.
The city frequently hosts meetings for zoning bylaw amendment proposals. The most recent was held in February.
