Robert “Bob” Bruce Adler Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Bruce Adler on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at the age of 78 years.
Bob was born on Wednesday, July 3rd, 1946, to his mother Roselyn Piluk and father Henry Adler in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Henry passed away before Bob was born, so he never got the chance to meet his father. When Bob was born, Roselyn took him with her to Lake Louise where she worked as a camp cook while raising Bob at the same time.
Roselyn ended up meeting John Shawchek and made the decision to move herself and Bob to Clayhurst, British Columbia to go work on the farm. Roselyn and John then introduced their new daughter Grace to the world, giving Bob a sister.
When Bob was in his early 20s, he left the farm to go to school to learn how to become a heavy equipment operator and look for work. He was politely kicked out of school; being told he was too experienced to be there and was quickly given a job. He had exceptional talent.
Bob then met his future and forever wife Bonnie Joy Langille in 1972. Bonnie and Bob wed on December 21st, 1973, at the Catholic Church in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. On May 28th, 1974, they introduced their only son, Robert Darren Adler, to the world. Darren was the joy of their lives.
The family lived in Mackenzie, British Columbia until 1985 until Bonnie’s mother, Florence Langille, sadly passed away. This is when the family packed up and moved to Dawson Creek and continued to live there until 2000. That year they then moved to Chetwynd, British Columbia, where it became their forever home. Bob decided to work as a school bus driver until his retirement.
When Bob was younger, he enjoyed camping with the family, fishing and numerous outdoor activities. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening, creating his coy fishpond, and artistic crafts. All throughout his life, he loved his dogs. He always had a special connection to animals.
Bob was a strong family man who always made family a priority. He always had unconditional love for his family and animals. He was truly unique in that way. Bob and Bonnie proudly celebrated 51 years of marriage last year. It was a proud accomplishment for all of us. Bob peacefully passed away in his home, but it was heartbreaking for all of us.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Henry and Roselyn.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Adler; son Darren (Michelle) Adler, sister Grace (Rod) Fika; nieces Megan Singh, Amanda (Devon) Moore, Nicole (Darrel) Johnson; nephew Dean (Sharon) Langille and their children.
He is deeply loved, will always be missed, and is forever in our hearts.
Following Bob’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Bob to the SPCA South Peace Branch, 11418 3rd Street, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 4L5, Canada or to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 1Z2.
