Fort St. John construction company wins ‘Initiate of the Year’ award

Northern Legendary Construction Ltd, a Fort St. John based company has received the ‘Initiate of the Year’ award by the BC Construction Association.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A Fort St. John construction company has received the ‘Initiate of the Year’ honour for its commitment to expertise and diversity.

Northern Legendary Construction Ltd was given the award by the BC Construction Association for experiencing significant growth and actively expanding its workforce.

According to its website, Northern Legendary Construction has provided services in Fort St. John since 2007, starting with residential construction and remodeling.

The company is one of seven recipients recognized by the BC Construction Association, which manages the Builders Code.

“They take great pride in a diverse team which includes talented individuals from various countries,” said the association’s website.

“They believe that exceptional skills and expertise should never be overlooked due to language barriers and are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all employees.”

Eric Bell, the Northern Legendary Construction’s general manager, said the award came as a surprise but was still appreciated. 

“It’s always appreciated to be recognized,” said Bell.

He attributes the win to the company’s teamwork. 

“We have really, really good team members and it’s not hard to make a good impact when everybody’s rowing together towards excellence,” said Bell.

“We as a team recognize the value of our community, especially our families, team members and venders.”

BC Construction Association also noted Northern Legendary Construction’s hiring practices, emphasising that it cultivates an environment where “employees genuinely want to recommend them.”

“They believe that when employees advocate for their workplace, it’s a testament to the inclusive and supportive environment they’ve built – and this organic, word-of-mouth recruitment fosters a team dynamic built on trust, shared values and camaraderie,” said the association.

“Northern Legendary Construction is dedicated to promoting a culture of learning and growth, and safety and wellbeing – a workplace where everyone feels secure and protected.”

Bell says he expects the company to keep doing well in serving the communities it works in. 

“I think we’ll continue to strive for excellence and as we grow, maybe we’re looking for recognition with the safest employer competitions and quality competitions, so the future is always exciting,” said Bell.
