To register online to vote, individuals will need to provide information on their driver’s licence, be a resident of Canada and confirm they will be 18 years of age or older by April 28th. Residents intending to vote by mail must register online for their ballot package by April 22nd.

On voting day, all voters must identify themselves in one of a variety of ways at the polls.

They can present one piece of government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s licence issued by any Canadian government – be it a provincial, federal or territory government, with a photograph, name and current address.

Alternatively, prospective voters can provide two documents without photographs, such as a voter information card and bank statement or a utility bill and student identification card.

If you are not in possession of identification, voters can declare their identity and address in writing, and have someone who knows them or who is assigned to their polling station vouch for them.

Elections Canada does not have any candidates registered in the Prince George, Peace River and Northern Rockies electoral district at the time of publication.

The New Democratic Party (NDP), the Green Party of Canada and the People’s Party of Canada have all announced candidates for the electoral district, and incumbent Bob Zimmer of the Conservative Party of Canada has confirmed he is running for re-election.

Announcements on polling locations and all-candidate forums are expected in the following weeks, as well as further information on candidates running for election.
