Wanted man arrested in Fort St. John after car break-in report

Devin Calliou, a wanted man with arrest warrants in both B.C. and Alberta, has been arrested in Fort St. John following a car break-in report.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A wanted man with arrest warrants in both B.C. and Alberta has been arrested by police officers in Fort St. John.

According to a press release from the Fort St. John RCMP detachment, just before 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 18th, officers got word of someone allegedly trying to break into a truck near 112th Avenue and 86th Street.

Officers arrived and located Devin Calliou, who was immediately arrested on outstanding warrants from Dawson Creek and Beaverlodge, Alberta.

Calliou was also issued several new charges, including mischief to property, theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of failing to comply with an order.

“This man is well known to police throughout the entire Peace region,” said Staff Sergeant Scott Watson. “The cooperation between the public and police should help stem some of the vehicle thefts that have been recently occurring in the region.”

Officers say Calliou is currently being held in police custody for court to determine bail.
