A total of 14 executives of various energy companies in Canada signed the letter.

Some of the signatures come from presidents and chief executive officers of companies with operations in the Peace region, such as Terry Anderson of ARC Resources, Greg Ebel of Enbridge and Mike Rose of Tourmaline Oil.

The letter was also signed by François Poirier of TC Energy which has operations with the North Montney Mainline, north of Fort St. John.

According to the letter,  there is increasing public support for growing the energy sector and building energy infrastructure, including new oil and natural gas pipelines and LNG terminals, to expand Canada’s energy exports.

“Canadians increasingly see the importance of using our abundant energy to ensure Canada can defend its sovereignty, play a role in the world as a force for good, and improve our overall economic competitiveness and prosperity,” the letter reads.

Several recommendations were included in the letter to reset the country’s policies, such as simplifying regulation, growing production, attracting investment and more.

This comes after tariff threats from the United States have led the province to accelerate 18 critical mineral and energy projects amid new legislation from Adrian Dix, minister of energy and climate solutions.
