DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Dawson Creek residents are invited to an event where they can learn more about the new hospital being built in the city as construction continues.

Northern Health is hosting an ‘open house’ at the George Dawson Inn and Conference Centre on Wednesday, March 12th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

According to Eryn Collins from Northern Health, the event won’t include physical tours of the facility for attendees.

“Attendees will experience a slideshow presentation on display with renderings and construction progress photos, as well as the department highlight boards and sample materials from the building,” says Collins.

The open house will be a “drop-in style event” for residents to meet the project team, ask questions and learn about the construction process so far, Collins says.

Attendees will also reportedly have a chance to win “health and wellness-related [door] prizes donated by our wonderful community partners,” according to a Facebook post about the event from Northern Health.

As of the most recent construction update, work is well underway on the new hospital, which is set to be 50 per cent larger than the current facility, with 24 additional beds for patients, five new treatment spaces in its emergency department and more.
