FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Registration for an annual women’s leadership conference in Fort St. John is now open.

This International Women’s Day on March 8th, Spark Women’s Leadership Conference announced people can now secure their spot at the two-day professional development event coming to Fort St. John this October.

“It’s a two day event; we like to blend keynotes and workshops so that you can be inspired, but also you have some tangible tools to take home with you,” said Suzanne Young, chair of the Spark Women’s Leadership Conference, in an appearance on Energeticcity.ca’s Community Roundup.

There will be speakers, practical workshops and networking opportunities at the conference, which is themed in 2025 on ‘rise: next-level strategies for success’.

Spark’s website reads: “Whether it’s mastering leadership skills, unlocking personal resilience, or creating meaningful professional networks, you will gain actionable insights to fuel your journey.”

The Spark Women’s Leadership Conference was first organized in 2014 by “a group of women [who] got together and felt that we need to create something to provide professional development opportunities for women in the north,” Young said.

The conference is not exclusively for women, with everyone able to benefit from insights and skills gleaned at the event.

Young added: “Last year, we had everything from someone talking about how to manage your voice to be more comfortable speaking in a room so that it doesn’t shake.

“It’s from that to …how do you present yourself as a brand? How would you brand yourself?

“We had a great speaker come in to talk about resilience and how to work through things in your life that may throw you off the rail…we do try to get as much as we can into the two days.”

The schedule and speaker lineup for the 2025 event is yet to be finalised and announced.

Tickets for the conference on October 8th and 9th at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre are $499 to attend in-person and $149 to access the online livestream.

However, Spark is offering a discounted rate of $420 and $80 respectively until March 16th.

Visit the event’s website to buy tickets, become a sponsor, sign up to volunteer or apply to speak at the event.
