Two dogs seemingly shot dead near Chetwynd, RCMP investigate

CHETWYND, B.C. — South Peace RCMP officers are looking to the public for information as they investigate two deceased dogs found adjacent to a highway.
On Sunday, February 23rd, a resident posted photos to social media anonymously saying they had found two deceased dogs on Highway 29 South, between Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge.

According to the resident, the dogs appeared to have been shot to death. One of the photos showed what looked like shotgun shell casings on the ground near their bodies, as well as pools of blood.

RCMP media relations officer Madonna Saunderson says the Chetwynd RCMP detachment is now actively investigating the two dogs’ deaths.
No further information was provided or confirmed by police. Anyone with information that could assist investigators is urged to contact the detachment at (250) 788-9221.
