FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Patients who take advantage of walk-in clinics at the Fort St. John Family Practice Associates Clinic might need to rethink their plans soon.

The clinic has announced it is no longer offering afternoon walk-in clinics on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays.

Morning walk-in clinics will still be available from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and Wednesday afternoon walk-in clinics, from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m., will remain available.

“In addition, all physicians at our clinic have set aside a number of same-day access appointments each day for their patients who may need to be seen more urgently,” a Facebook post announcing the change reads.

“We anticipate both walk-in and same-day access appointments will fill up quickly, so we recommend coming directly to the clinic first thing in the morning or calling right at 9:00 a.m. when the clinic opens.”

For people who can’t attend those walk-in hours or book a same-day access appointment, the Northern Health Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic can connect residents with a family doctor or nurse practitioner from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
