Meet Jashanpreet, the newest deputy sheriff coming to Fort St. John
Fort St. John’s newest deputy sheriff is Jashanpreet Gill, who will begin in Fort St. John on March 7th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John’s newest deputy sheriff has been revealed as a former firefighter who wants to “build meaningful connections” in the community.
Jashanpreet Gill has been appointed as deputy sheriff at Fort St. John provincial courthouse and will begin on March 7th.
“My passion for public safety and emergency services is what led me to apply for the BC Sheriff Service,” according to Gill.

The new deputy sheriff says he was drawn to Fort St. John due to its small-town community.
“I was particularly drawn to working in Fort St. John, as I value the close-knit community that small towns have,” says Gill.
“I look forward to building meaningful connections within the community and developing a compassionate approach to my work.”
Gill graduated from the Sheriff Recruit Training program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia on February 5th.
The B.C. government announced the graduating class would send sheriffs to northern municipalities in British Columbia.

Gill was born and raised in India before moving to Ontario in 2018. He attained a diploma in business from Northern College in Ontario.
Before joining the BC Sheriff Service, Gill worked in the security industry and served as an on-call firefighter with the Timmins Fire Department.
