Northern Rockies hosting open house for new immigration initiative
Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) residents will have an opportunity soon to share their opinions on the Northeast BC Rural Community Immigration Pilot coming to Northern BC and Fort Nelson.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) residents will soon have an opportunity to share their opinions on a new program for immigrants coming to Northern B.C.
The Northeast BC Rural Community Immigration Pilot, announced last week, is designed to streamline the process for businesses to sponsor newcomers to Canada as they apply to become permanent residents.
The NRRM, one of the communities selected to be a part of the program, announced on Facebook that it’s hosting an open house event so residents can learn more about it.

Initially, NRRM Mayor Rob Fraser was set to host a Facebook Live stream to address people’s concerns, but the decision was made to instead host an in-person event following feedback from residents.
The open house is happening on Thursday, February 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the Visitor Centre in Fort Nelson. It will also be streamed live on YouTube.
In order to “ensure everyone’s voice is heard and respect everyone’s time”, the municipality is collecting questions in advance via email.
