Dead body reported at Highway 97-Highway 16 intersection in Prince George

A dead body has been found at the corner of Highway 97 and Highway 16 in Prince George and police officers are at the scene.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Prince George residents are being warned to expect a significant police presence at the corner of Highway 97 and Highway 16 due to reports of a dead body.

According to a press release from the city’s RCMP detachment, officers are currently in the area after receiving a report of the body being found near the intersection at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4th.

“Our preliminary investigation has not revealed anything suspicious in nature,” says Corporal Jennifer Cooper, the detachment’s media relations officer.

“We will continue to work closely with the B.C. Coroner’s Service, who will take conduct of the investigation from this point.”

Reportedly the investigation is still in its early stages, and there will be no updates from police.
