FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A secondary school was locked down this morning due to a “safety concern involving threat-related behaviour”.
North Peace Secondary School (NPSS) confirmed to Energeticity.ca students are safe but the facility was on lockdown after the safety concern was brought to the school’s attention.
“As this information was worrisome in nature, we contacted local law enforcement and they initiated an investigation,” said NPSS as the incident was ongoing. “Out of an abundance of caution and under advisement of the RCMP, the school is currently in a lockdown.”

NPSS has now confirmed the lockdown has ended, students are all safe and classes have resumed as usual. The school discouraged parents from coming to the site.
Since lifting the lockdown, NPSS said: “The RCMP believes there is no threat to our school community, but due to the ongoing investigation and privacy considerations, this is all we can share at this time.
“We want to assure you that all of our staff and students are safe. We take every precaution to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff members.”
Energeticity.ca has contacted the RCMP and will update this story as more information becomes available.
