Fort St. John RCMP investigating suspicious occurrence involving child

Officers with the Fort St. John RCMP detachment say they’re looking for information regarding a “suspicious occurrence” they say potentially involved a young child.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Officers with the Fort St. John RCMP detachment say they’re looking for information regarding a “suspicious occurrence” they say potentially involved a young child.

Police say they received reports of the incident at 3:10 p.m. on Friday, January 10th. 

It reportedly involved a child in a pink one-piece snowsuit and a purple toque that had been walking in the area of 108th Street and 102nd Avenue.

Officers also say a black sedan with potential front-end damage may have also been involved with the incident.

Residents who were in the area and saw anything suspicious between 2:30 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. on the 10th is urged to contact police.

Anyone with dashcam or security camera footage of the area at that time is also urged to review their footage, and contact police if they see a child or vehicle in the footage that matches the above descriptions.

“This investigation is in the early stages and the public’s help will be invaluable in this matter,” said Media Relations Officer Chad Neustater. “Assistance from the public will help to shed more light on the totality of the circumstances and assist in advancing the investigation.”
