Local racetrack Northern Lights Raceway is slated to hold its 2025 Annual General Meeting next week.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Local racetrack Northern Lights Raceway is slated to hold its 2025 Annual General Meeting next week.

According to a Facebook post, topics discussed will include events, plans and a new board of directors for the racing season.

Northern Lights Raceway has been run by volunteers since its first ever season in 1998.

In 2024, the ÂĽ track located at 242 Road in Baldonnel hosted five events, beginning on May long weekend and lasting into September.

As a World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA) affiliated track, participants such as Connor Svisdahl, Kevin Noehring, and Derek Patterson have had a chance to race at the track.

Performances in the WDRA Northern Bracket Finals in Prince George in September earned them an appearance in the World Finals, which took place in Alabama.

The 2025 Annual General Meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7th at the Pomeroy Sports Centre at 9324 96th Street in Fort St. John.

The executive meeting will start at 6:45, while the general meeting will start at 7:00 p.m.

A guy who found his calling later in life, Edward Hitchins is a professional storyteller with a colourful and extensive history.

Beginning his journey into journalism in 2012 at Seneca College, Edward also graduated from Humber College with an Advanced Diploma in Print and Broadcast Journalism in 2018.  After time off from his career and venturing into other vocations, he started his career proper in 2022 in Campbell River, B.C.

Edward was attracted to the position of Indigenous Voices reporter with Energeticcity as a challenge.  Having not been around First Nations for the majority of his life, he hopes to learn about their culture through meaningful conversations while properly telling their stories. 

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.

He looks forward to growing both as a reporter and as a human being while being posted in Fort St. John.
