Former Fort St. John Huskies players make Marian University Dean’s List 

Two former Fort St. John Huskies players are being honoured for making the Dean’s List at Marian University in Wisconsin for the Fall 2024 semester.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Two former Fort St. John Huskies players are being honoured for making the Dean’s List at Marian University in Wisconsin for the Fall 2024 semester.

The list is to honour students who have achieved a 3.50 or above grade point average. 

Both Cayden Frenette and Aiden Tegart were among a list of 12 nominees on the University’s American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II club team, according to a Facebook post on December 23rd.

Frenette, who served as a team captain in 2022-23 and scored 37 goals and 79 assists for 116 points during his regular season career with the Huskies, is in his second year with Marian. 

The 23-year-old forward has 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 14 games this season.

Tegart, a defenceman, had his best year with the Huskies in the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 STRIKE GROUP North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) season, with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 40 games.

A senior in his fourth year with the Sabres, he has played in nine games with one assist.

Riding a five-game winning streak, the club team sits with a record of 12-2-0 in 2024-25.

Their next game is against Chicago’s Depaul University on Friday, January 17th.

A guy who found his calling later in life, Edward Hitchins is a professional storyteller with a colourful and extensive history.

Beginning his journey into journalism in 2012 at Seneca College, Edward also graduated from Humber College with an Advanced Diploma in Print and Broadcast Journalism in 2018.  After time off from his career and venturing into other vocations, he started his career proper in 2022 in Campbell River, B.C.

Edward was attracted to the position of Indigenous Voices reporter with Energeticcity as a challenge.  Having not been around First Nations for the majority of his life, he hopes to learn about their culture through meaningful conversations while properly telling their stories. 

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.

He looks forward to growing both as a reporter and as a human being while being posted in Fort St. John.
