Local rodeo star soars to top five at Maple Leaf Circuit Finals

Local rodeo circuit star Jake Gardner scored a top-five finish at the Maple Leaf Circuit finals last weekend in Saskatchewan.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. —  Local rodeo circuit star Jake Gardner scored a top-five finish at the Maple Leaf Circuit finals last weekend in Saskatchewan.

Gardner rode to the top spot in the third round on the bull ‘Buck Cherry’ with a score of 79.5.

He followed that ride up with a score of 82 in the fourth and final round, on the back of another bull named ‘Smart as a Rock.’

“Always a good finals to go to with a chance to get rolling for next season,” wrote Gardner in a Facebook post on December 1st. “Thanks to everyone that helps put it on!!”

The Maple Leaf Circuit Finals occurred from November 27th to November 30th at the Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Gardner will be back in action this weekend at the PBR Dawson Creek, slated to take place on December 7th at the Ovintiv Events Centre.

Edward was attracted to the position of Indigenous Voices reporter with Energeticcity as a challenge.  Having not been around First Nations for the majority of his life, he hopes to learn about their culture through meaningful conversations while properly telling their stories. 

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.

He looks forward to growing both as a reporter and as a human being while being posted in Fort St. John.
