Police canine leads to arrest after rural residence break-in

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Dawson Creek RCMP have apprehended a suspect after a break-in to a rural residence with the assistance of a police canine. 

According to a December 2nd press release, a report was received of 32-year-old suspect Jeffery Parr breaking into a rural residence near Pouce Coupe at approximately 8 p.m. on November 29th. 

Police responded to the area immediately, and Parr fled on foot. Police Dog Services were called in to assist officers who spent over an hour tracking Parr for five kilometers through the snow.

Parr was apprehended and arrested, and police ensured he was given immediate medical attention due to the ‘extremely harsh and frigid’ temperatures. 

Parr has since been charged with failing to comply with a release order, mischief over $5,000, and break and enter to a residence.
