Freezing rain expected Monday morning in the North Peace and south of Fort Nelson

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Freezing rain is forecast for both the North Peace and south of Fort Nelson.

A Pacific warm front will move over the region on Monday, pushing the high to minus three and bringing with it freezing rain.

The freezing rain could start Monday morning and continue until the early afternoon when southwest winds will bring warmer surface air, ending the risk of further ice accumulations.

Freezing Rain Warning in effect for:

  • B.C. North Peace River

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring. Where: B.C Peace region and southern sections of Fort Nelson region. When: Monday morning through Monday afternoon. What: Freezing rain is expected tomorrow. Hazards: – Surfaces may become icy and slippery, potentially impacting the Monday morning commute. – Ice accumulation might cause utility outages. Remarks:

A Pacific warm front passing over colder surface air will bring freezing rain to the B.C. Peace region and southern sections of Fort Nelson. Freezing rain will persist from Monday morning to Monday afternoon. By late Monday afternoon, southwest winds will bring warmer surface air, ending the risk of further ice accumulations.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.
