UPDATE as of Nov 26, 2024 at 6:15 a.m. – The highway is open in both directions.

UPDATE as of Nov 25, 2024, at 9:15 p.m. – Detour in effect. Detour is available via Shepherd Inn Frontage road and Mile 72. This detour is single-lane alternating traffic. According to Drivebc.ca, the highway will remain closed until at least 4 a.m. Tuesday. For updates throughout the night, visit www.drivebc.ca

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Alaska Highway is closed near Shepherds Inn.

Drivebc.ca says the highway is closed in both directions between the Lower Cache Road and Beatton Airport Road.

Drivers in the area say traffic has been able to detour around the area, using the Shepherds Inn frontage road. Depending on traffic levels in the area, officials could also close this detour.

Currently, there is no estimate of when the highway will reopen.

Drivebc.ca says the next update will be issued at 9 p.m. MST.
