FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Dawson Creek has signed a letter condemning harmful rhetoric during the 2024 Provincial General Election.
The letter is intended to represent and vocalize members of the Peace River Regional District and Northern Rockies Regional Municipality’s desires for the provincial government to ‘reject discriminatory sentiments and uphold inclusivity and respect’ within communities across the province.
“We firmly united in our message that it will never be acceptable to not speak up at any point when these kinds of discriminatory sentiments are expressed publicly, and we expect leaders at the provincial levels to do the same,” The letter reads in part.
The letter was also sent to 14 other governmental bodies, including the City of Fort St. John, the District of Chetwynd, Doig River First Nation, Fort Nelson First Nation, Peace River Regional District, and West Moberly First Nations, requesting their signatures.
