FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John has announced intentions to change snow clearing policies this winter. 

In a post to social media on November 15th, the City acknowledged that snow clearing activities in recent days have not met residents’ expectations. 

“Snow removal wasn’t handled the way it should have been, and for that we sincerely apologize,” the City wrote.

The post explained that the staff are reassessing how equipment is deployed, and how snow events and forecasts are responded to. 

According to City communications manager Ryan Harvey, staff were directed by council to review snow clearing policies and bring recommendations for improvements to an upcoming council meeting in December.
