“We’re here for anyone cancer has touched,” Baumeister told councillors.

The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the Northern Lights College Indigenous Gathering Room, providing individual and group sessions and support depending on the attendees’ needs.

Offering peer-based support, the society works to improve the mental, physical, and emotional health of attendees and their families, as well as assisting attendees with finding information on financial and medical information if needed.

The society also maintains a wig program for individuals suffering from hair loss due to various health complications, including cancer treatment.

A website and future events are upcoming, and both founders expressed that anyone and everyone was welcome to join the sessions.

Until the website is available, individuals interested in attending are invited to attend a meeting, message the society’s Facebook page, or email the society at fsjcs@gmail.com.
