Dawson Creek Hospital experiences overnight diversion

Northern Health announced Friday evening that the Dawson Creek Hospitals emergency department will be unavailable overnight due to staffing challenges.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Northern Health announced Friday evening that the Dawson Creek Hospital emergency department will be unavailable overnight due to staffing challenges. 

The diversion started at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 8th, and will continue until 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th.

This is the second diversion the hospital has experienced this month after a nine-hour diversion on November 7th for similar reasons.

People in the area who need life-threatening emergency care are advised to call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility. 

Meanwhile, patients with less urgent care needs are urged to speak with their primary care providers or call Northern Health’s virtual clinic at 1-844-645-7811.
