FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The North Peace Cultural Society is set to host its annual general meeting next week.

The meeting will be held on November 14th at 7 p.m. at the North Peace Cultural Centre.

The society calls the meeting a great opportunity to learn about their activities, learn about chances for volunteering, and get more involved with the arts community in Fort St. John.

North Peace Cultural Society’s Executive Director Oliver Hachmeister says the meeting will allow the organization to reflect on its successes over the past year, future goals, and an opportunity to elect new members.

Hachmeister highlighted some of the society’s successes over the year, such as the B.C. Performing Arts Festival held for the second year in a row.

The society also received many grant applications over the year, allowing it to upgrade the theatre with a new baby grand piano for its conference room and a brand new digital projector.

Hachmeister expects that after the meeting, they will focus on further renovations to the building’s exterior and interior.

“It is a 30-year-old building, so we need to make sure that we stay on top of that,” said Hachmeister.

People can become members of the society by registering on the North Peace Cultural Centre website, which includes a $5 fee.

“Throughout the year, we’ve been inviting people to become a member all season long, at the low price of $5, and they can save $5 on their ticket prices to the presentation series shows.”

The director encourages people who want to become a member of the society to register before the meeting.

The North Peace Cultural Centre is located at 10015 100 Avenue.
