Dawson Creek proclaims Louis Riel week in November

The City of Dawson Creek council has voted to proclaim the week of November 10th to 16th as Louis Riel Week in Dawson Creek.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Dawson Creek council has voted to proclaim the week of November 10th to 16th as Louis Riel Week in Dawson Creek. 

The North East Metis Association went before Mayor Darcy Dobber to request the proclamation in honor of Louis David Riel, recognized by the Government of Canada as the father of Manitoba and penned the Manitoba Act of 1870. 

The Association will host a gathering open to the public on November 16th at its office at 10100 10th Street in Dawson Creek, starting with a public breakfast at 10 a.m.
