Toxic drug alert issued for Prince George

On November 1st, Northern Health issued a toxic drug alert and warning to Prince George residents.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — On November 1st, Northern Health issued a toxic drug alert and warning to Prince George residents.  

According to a Facebook post from Northern Health, A purple drug sold as “down” has tested positive for high levels of fentanyl and bromazolam (benzodiazepine).

The drug has been linked to an increase in overdoses in the Prince George community.

The health authority recommends getting overdose prevention, recognition, and response training, carrying Naloxone, and calling 911 in case of an overdose. 

In August, Northern Health issued a warning for Dawson Creek after a similar purple drug called “side” caused an increase in overdoses.
