Family Well-Being Initiative focus groups coming to Dawson Creek

A series of focus groups as part of Northern Development’s Family Well Being Initiative will be held in Dawson Creek next week to engage with families impacted by long-distance labour commuting.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A series of focus groups as part of Northern Development’s Family Well-Being Initiative will be held in Dawson Creek next week to engage with families impacted by long-distance labour commuting.

The sessions’ stated goal is to “develop a better approach to providing services and supports for those impacted by the stresses associated with mobile work.”

The initiative is part of a partnership between Northern Development, Northern Health, the University of Northern British Columbia, and the Transform Family Justice System Collaborative.

Three sessions are scheduled for Monday, November 4th:

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for spouses of mobile workers who have kids
  • 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. grandparents who support mobile work families
  • 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for mobile workers 

On Tuesday, November 5th, another session will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for multicultural family members impacted by mobile work. 

All focus groups will be held in Room 1 at the Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre, located at 10401 10th Street. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
