Fort St. John approves water and sewer rate increases for 2025
The Council of the City of Fort St. John has approved increases to water and sewer rates starting January 1st, 2025.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Council of the City of Fort St. John has approved increases to water and sewer rates starting January 1st, 2025.
The council approved changes to water and sewer charges starting in 2025 by approving an amendment to the bylaws at the October 28th regular meeting of council and giving the legislation its first three readings.
According to bylaw documents, the water metered rate will be increasing by $0.03 per cubic meter from the current rate of $1.95 to $1.98 in 2025.
Sewer rates will also increase on January 1st, 2025, from $2.02 per cubic meter to $2.06 per cubic meter.
This rate will be in place from January 1st to April 30th, before lowering to $18.5 from May 1st to August 31st. This is still a slight increase from 2024’s rate of $1.82. Rates are then scheduled to return to $2.06 after August 13st for the remainder of the year.
Following the October 28th meeting, the bylaws received their first three readings and will be adopted during the November 12th regular council meeting.
