New clues surface in search for Jim Barnes, missing from East Pine River area

A Dawson Creek resident has made a final appeal to search for her brother who has been missing near the Ground Birch Road area for over a week.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A Dawson Creek resident has made a final appeal to search for her brother who has been missing near the Ground Birch Road area for over a week.

Jim Barnes’s sister, Wendy, posted to Facebook late Friday evening, saying “critical new evidence” was found along the East Pine River.  

“Today, our community found a boot print with a dog print along the river—matching Jim’s,” part of the post reads.

“If anyone has a boat to help us reach the site, it would make a huge difference in preserving this sign for the RCMP to reactivate search efforts. With snow expected soon, time is essential.”

Barnes and his dog Murphy were reported missing to the Fort St. John RCMP on October 18th.

His case was transferred over to the Chetwynd detachment, with ground searches beginning almost immediately.

On Friday, search teams announced that search efforts had been temporarily ended while the police gathered more information about the case.

A guy who found his calling later in life, Edward Hitchins is a professional storyteller with a colourful and extensive history.

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.

He looks forward to growing both as a reporter and as a human being while being posted in Fort St. John.
