RCMP appeal for information on missing hiker in Sikanni Chief area
The Northern Rockies RCMP are seeking the public’s help locating a missing hiker in the Fort Nelson Region.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Northern Rockies RCMP are seeking the public’s help locating a missing hiker in the Fort Nelson Region.
Sam Benastick was reported missing by his family on October 19th after failing to return from a hunting trip in Redfern Kiely Park near the Sikanni Chief area.
Benastick last checked in with his family on October 8th and was supposed to have returned by October 17th. This is out-of-character behaviour for the avid hiker and camper, and his family is concerned for his well-being.

When he departed for his trip, he had a tarp, a black Osprey backpack with red strings, and other camping supplies.
RCMP resources, including Search and Rescue and the Police Dog Services Unit, have been deployed to help locate him.
Any members of the public who have any information on Benastick or have been in the Redfern Keily Park area since October 7th are asked to contact the Northern Rockies RCMP at 250-774-2700.
