DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Police officers say two people are deceased after a Friday evening collision on Highway 97.

Dawson Creek RCMP officers reportedly responded to the collision at 7:45 p.m. Friday, October 11th, on Highway 97 South at the intersection with 247 Road, near Arras.

Media Relations Officer Madonna Saunderson says firefighters from Dawson Creek and members of the nearby Arras Volunteer Fire Brigade were already at the scene when officers arrived.

“Sadly, at around 7:45 p.m. on the 11th, [police responded to] a two-vehicle collision. It appears to be head-on.”

Madonna confirmed that two people were pronounced deceased at the scene but had no further information regarding the incident to share.

Energeticcity.ca contacted the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment to learn more about the collision, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
