FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Chetwynd Provincial Courts from October 7th to 11th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, October 10th

David James Burtch (born 1995):

Burtch was found guilty of two counts of breaching a probation order and two counts of disobeying a court order, for incidents in Kamloops and Chase, BC between September 2022 and March of 2024.

Burtch was issued four 90-day conditional sentences, and four $100 victim surcharges, which go towards supporting victims of a crime. A conditional sentence is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called “house arrest.” 

Chetwynd Provincial Court sentencing, October 10th

Tyrell James Collins (born 1988):

Collins was found guilty of two counts of assaulting a peace officer and one count of breaching a probation order, for incidents in Chetwynd and Dawson Creek between January and June of 2023.

Collins was sentenced to two 12-month probation orders and two 30-day conditional sentences.

Joshua Daniel Courtoreille (born 1993):

Courtoreille was found guilty of operation while over 80 blood alcohol content and two counts of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended license, for incidents in Chetwynd and Dawson Creek between May of 2022 and March of 2024.

Courtoreille was issued a total of $2,700 in fines, $705 in victim surcharges, and two one-year driving prohibitions.
