“The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love,” says their website.
Since 1993, more than 220 million children in more than 170 countries and territories have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox.
Local residents are invited to gather as many materials as possible, put them in a shoebox, label whether the box is packed for a boy or girl and the age category, and deliver the items to the closest drop-off location.
A $12 donation is also required to cover shipping costs.
