FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Huskies will try to keep their North West Junior Hockey League win streak to start the season going when they head to Sexsmith, Alberta, to take on the Vipers.

All eyes will be on forward Taryn Hoskyn. He is among the league leaders with five goals and one assist for six points to start the season.

According to head coach Todd Alexander, Hoskyn’s hot start to the season is “nice” for the 19-year-old, who spent time with the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s Campbell River Storm last season.

“He seems to be developing a little chemistry with [linemates Tanner McCracken and Sam Loewen],” said Alexander to energeticcity.ca earlier this week.

Tonight’s opponent, the Sundown Oilfield Sexsmith Vipers, owns the NWJHL’s North/South division’s basement with just one point from three contests.

However, they pushed the defending league champions, the La Crete Lumber Barons, to a shootout in the second half of a home-and-home series on Sunday, September 22nd.

All eyes will be on Vipers forward Lucas Schuett, who leads the team with three points.

This is the last of a three-game road trip for the Huskies, who will host their home opener on Saturday, October 5th, against Dawson Creek Kodiaks at the North Peace Arena.

The puck drop for both games on Friday and Saturday is 8:00 p.m.

More information about the Huskies is available through the team’s website and Facebook page.
