Forestry Superintendent receives FPAC’s Women in Forestry Award

An LP Peace Valley employee has been given an award for her impact and excellence in the forestry sector by the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC).

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – An LP Peace Valley employee has been given an award for her impact and excellence in the forestry sector by the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC). 

Sarah Curtis, a forestry superintendent with LP Peace Valley, was one of two women to receive the Women in Forestry Award in September 2024.

Since graduating from the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto, Curtis has worked in various forestry roles with LP Peace Valley and Canadian Forest Products, creating and improving sustainable forest plans and relations with First Nations and external stakeholders.

Curtis is also active in her community, serving on several community organization boards, such as the Mackenzie Nature Observatory and the Mackenzie Public Library. 

According to FPAC President and CEO Derek Nighbor, Curtis and the other awardee ‘exemplify the leadership and dedication that this award is designed to honour.’ 

“Winning FPAC’s 2024 Women in Forestry Award of Excellence is not just a personal milestone; it represents the strength and determination of women in this sector,” Curtis said.
