Early voting in the Peace Region and how to register

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The 2024 Provincial General Election is officially in full swing, and here is some important information to remember when voting. 

Residents can vote early now at any district electoral office in the region. In Fort St. John, voters can go to the district electoral office at 1 10628 Peck Lane.

A full list of currently open and soon-to-be open voting places is available through Elections BC.

Advance voting will be open from October 10th to 16th, with voting locations closed on October 14th for Thanksgiving Day. 

Residents interested in voting by mail have until October 13th to request a package online or by phone, and voter registration is open online, in person, and over the phone until October 19th. 

A new voting process will also be in effect for this election. The updated system includes networked laptops instead of paper lists to keep track of individuals who have registered to vote.

Ballots will also be counted via electronic tabulators, which increase the speed of result reporting on election night. 

Voting guides are mailed to every household in B.C., and a digital version has been published online. 

On October 19th, voters will be required to show photo identification such as a BC driver’s license, a BC Identification Card, a BC Services Card, or a Certificate of Indian Status.
