UBCM endorses BC SPCA glue trap resolution
The BC SPCA has announced that the UBCM membership has endorsed their resolution to ban the sale and purchase of glue traps.

VANCOUVER, B.C. — The BC SPCA has announced that the UBCM membership has endorsed their resolution to ban the sale and purchase of glue traps.
“We’re thrilled that UBCM members have endorsed this resolution, and we hope the provincial government will act on their recommendation,” said BC SPCA’s government relations officer, Sarah Herring.
BC SPCA says glue traps are an inhumane treatment for rodents, pets, and other small animals that die from suffocation, dehydration, starvation, exhaustion, or exposure.
Herring says people in the province can help the society by talking to their provincial election candidates about the importance of animal welfare.
Greater Victoria councillors Teale Phelps-Bondaroff and John Rogers brought forward the resolution after a presentation from Lavinia Rojas, one of the BC SPCA’s passionate supporters.
“I am grateful to all of the passionate advocates who helped make this resolution a reality, and I hope that the provincial government will step up and ban these horrific and indiscriminate traps,” said Bondaroff.
BC SPCA advises people to rodent-proof their living spaces to prevent infestations before they start. Other methods of dealing with rodent infestations include snap traps or captive bolt traps.
